Maintain your Mental Health in Autumn

Autumn is a beautiful time of year; Trees that were once green explode into beautiful hues of gold, red, and orange, warm days start to give way to cool, crisp nights, and the nights get longer and cosier. But as the seasons change, it's important to take care of yourself, and crucially, your mental health.

The end of summer can often bring a mix of emotions, especially if you've had an enjoyable time during the season. As the days get shorter and routines change, maintaining good mental health becomes even more important. Here are some tips to help you keep your spirits up as we head towards the tail end of 2023:

Routine & Structure

  1. Maintain a Schedule: Regularity can provide a sense of normality. Try to wake up and go to bed at the same time every day.

  2. Plan Your Week: Knowing what you'll be doing each day can reduce anxiety and make the week feel more manageable.

Physical Health

  1. Keep Exercising: Physical activity releases endorphins, which can help elevate your mood. Indoor activities like yoga, dance, or even a home workout can be great.

  2. Eat Well: A balanced diet rich in fruits, veggies, and lean proteins can have a significant impact on your mood and energy.

Social Connection

  1. Stay Connected: As it gets colder, we may be less inclined to go out, but maintaining social connections is vital. Weekly catch-ups, even if they're virtual, can make all the difference.
